24-hour Nurse Line

There's a lot to know about medical conditions and the treatments available for them. For example, when you go to the doctor, he or she may tell you about different ways to treat your disease or illness – and leave the choice up to you. Or you may read about a new discovery or treatment that could help. How do you make the best decision? One way is to take advantage of Aetna's Informed Health Line.

When you call Aetna's Informed Health Line - toll-free at 1-800-556-1555 - you can talk to registered nurses experienced in providing information on a variety of health topics. Nurses are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

While the nurses don't diagnose problems or give advice, they can:

  • Help you understand health issues and treatment choices,
  • Give you some good questions to ask your doctor, and
  • Tell you about the latest research on certain treatments and procedures, and explain their risks and benefits.

The nurses at Informed Health Line can help you make sense out of your choices and communicate more effectively with your doctor. They'll give you the facts you need to make decisions and choices you can feel good about.

Don't forget: You can call the Informed Health Line, day or night. And, you don't have to memorize the toll-free number; it is on the back of your medical ID card!
