Why Select a PCP?

While you are not required to select a PCP under the CSR Open Access HMO plan, you may want to – for these reasons:

  • Your PCP gets to know you, your medical history and your particular health needs and issues. By acting as your personal health manager, your PCP can help you better understand your health conditions and stay well.
  • Your PCP provides basic, routine care and important health screenings.
  • Your PCP can help you find the right network specialist for your particular needs.
  • Your PCP also can help you make important medical decisions.

Keep in mind that you can select a different PCP for each member of the family. A PCP can be a general practitioner, family practitioner, internist or pediatrician.
